My high school experience wasn’t the wonderful time that some people have—getting caught in the forced integration of the mid-seventies and having to change schools my junior year. It was Evelyn’s friendship that got me through the first year, and through her I met Mark Shelton, who is a good friend to this day. The next year in Mr. Miles Sociology class I sat in front of Randy Roorda, who was (and still is) one of the nicest people I’d met and another lifelong friendship was forged.
I recall that when the invitations to the Thomas Jefferson Class of 1976 ten year reunion came around, I swore I wasn’t going. But I also recall that Mark convinced me that we needed to go. So I did. And I’m glad I did because I got to see Mark and Randy and get these great pictures.
