After moving to Oregon, Patty and Tom traveled back to California to take care of taxes, visit the optometrist and, most importantly, see friends.
We can’t quite remember when it started, but it’s probably been over twenty years since that first discussion about pineapple upside down (cake. Bill Brown said it had been a comfort food growing up, and Patty brought one in for his birthday and a tradition began. It continued even after Patty left Apple and just because we moved to Oregon, that was no reason to stop. This is the third year that a cake has traveled from Portland to San Jose.
Chris Bryant and Patty have remained friends since working at Apple. The food at Mackenzie Bar & Grill at the Pasatiempo Golf Club was just okay, but the afternoon spent talking and laughing with Chris (and at the golfers, at times) was great.
Good friends. Good times. It was too short a time to just have coffee with Maria Robinson, Patty’s good friend from Adobe.
Amy Smith and Tom met through a mutual friend when Tom had his business in downtown San Jose. The mutual friend has fallen out of touch, but we still enjoy meeting up with Amy when we’re in the Bay Area. This is outside of Stacks! where we had lunch with Ron Solorzano, Ron Solorzano was a good friend at Adobe. He was the only one who, like Patty, preferred getting out of the office for lunch over eating at the Café or in their office, a good friend at Adobe. We miss our friends and neighbors Connie and Joe Cronin. They’re still in San Jose, so we visit them when we can.
