Scotland 1997 Staying at Minmore House

In 1995, we found Minmore House in the book Europe’s Wonderful Little Hotels & Inns by Hilary Rubinstein. When our stay ended after three days, we really wanted to stay on. The food was marvelous, the accomodations good, and the people wonderful. Before we drove away, we had decided we would return.

With Minmore as our base, we toured the area visiting towns like Dufftown, Elgin, and Lossiemouth. We discovered “new” malt whiskeys, toured castles, toured a cashmere mill, and watched sheepdogs in action. We also took walks and met some wonderful people.

Sadly, we learned that Minmore House closed in 2009. But we have great memories and pictures.

Minmore House serves a full Scottish breakfasts, afternoon tea, and gourmet five course dinners. Over the course of the five days, at tea and after dinner, in the bar, we met some interesting people—guests and staff.
